12 May 2020

As a form of MS Center for Law's contribution to business players during the Covid-19 pandemic, on May 12, 2020 the MS Center for Law held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "What's Wrong With Covid-19?" which thoroughly examines Covid-19 as a reason for force majeure in business agreements and its impact from a labor law perspective.

The FGD provided understanding to business actors including:

  1. Whereas the Covid-19 pandemic can be used as a reason for force majeure in business agreements, but in determining whether the Covid-19 pandemic is a force majeure in the business agreement, it is necessary to pay attention to the contents of the agreement and agreement of the parties.
  2. Whereas the Covid-19 pandemic can be used as a legal reason for business actors to lay off workers while still providing wages, the amount of which is agreed upon between the business actor and the worker.
